Description
During the Spring of Nations in 1848, when forming nations and national identities were in vogue, the Slovenes got in on the action with the idea of "United Slovenia", the idea of a kingdom comprising all Slovene people under the rule of the Austrian Empire, not dissimilar to the ideas implemented when the Austrian Empire became the Austro-Hungarian Dual Monarchy. It also promoted the recognition of the Slovene language, and opposed the integration of Austria into the German Confederation when it seemed like Germany was about to unify.

Obviously, the plan never came to fruition, but it remained an active concept until 1947, when the Slovenian Littoral was annexed by Yugoslavia, and 1954, when Trieste was partitioned between Yugoslavia and Italy, accomplishing most of the remaining goals. This map shows an interpretation of a map that showed the idea of the "Velika Slovenija" - the Greater Slovenia as proposed by United Slovenia. I like looking at irredentist concepts like this, especially with some concepts that seem a bit odd at first, but look interesting in practice.
