Description
This was based on an idea floated by DiscordForcedMe as many of my things now are, and I don't have much to go off of here, though I wish I did. The only real idea I have is that Milošević is shot at some point before he can really begin stoking Serbian nationalism, especially as it relates to the bullshit Yugoslavia started doing near the end of its life. So here we have a Yugoslavia that has transitioned away from communism peacefully (well, as peacefully as can be, I imagine there'd be some shooting and civil conflict here and there, but overall it has remained a federation that has also reformed itself internally by the further internal partitioning of Bosnia and Herzgovina, as well as elevating Kosovo to the status of a full state separate from Serbian oversight. If all goes well, I can imagine Yugoslavia having a relatively GDP and quality of life, equivalent to something like Poland in terms of how well off it is economically. I can also see it remaining separate from NATO but moving to join the European Union relatively early on. Perhaps it might just help ease the modern perceptions of the Balkans as a cesspit of ethnic conflict without the Yugoslav Wars to tear it apart.
