I really do love this picture- it's original and cute, and brings back great memories of reading about this part in the book. I really wanted to vote for you, and I tried to. But I don't speak French, and I couldn't figure out how to vote.

Ah well I don't really have an idea on the topic. I don't know enough about other education systems than france to make my mind about it o:
Especially if you're talking about the US system, I always hear about it about how bad it is and stuff but I don't know anything about it to be honest.
There's really only 2 standardized test in your scolarity in france I think (from what I understand of wikipedia), your middle school finals (which are not even that important) and high school finals (depends on which track you chose). And it's not multiple choice.

Ah well yes I was referring to the American education system. It's obscene the way students are treated and how funding is localized to the point that high poverty schools are common place. Not to mention how colleges have been turned into a cesspool of politics where one is sold classes that won't even benefit their chosen profession.

Ah that's awful, especially knowing how incredibly expensive colleges are ! I don't know how students can afford them, there's really a huge cultural gap with France where banks would never allow students to take such loans. And I read something about textbooks in college, is it true that some of them can cost 300$ ? Is that included in what you pay for your college ? Maybe I misread... But good education shouldn't be reachable only for those who can afford it, or those who live in privileged places. It's such a simple statement, it seems so evident, I have a hard time believing a country as powerful and proud as the United States can't understand it.
How are students treated in schools ? I had no idea about the localized fundings, it seems so unfair ?

Sadly you did not misread. The thing about the U.S. is that it worships greed. It has gotten to the point to where if there's money to be made in ANY kind of industry there will be people there to exploit it. This is why the medical and educational fields are so bad. It's also why there's so much unrest now a days. People are sick and tired of being exploited by big corporations and bureaucracies.
