My entry for the Sports contest. I thought it was a great excuse to combine MLP with my fave manga/comic ever Eyesheild 21. Seriously, if you havn't read it... FIX THAT!!! Its so awesome /)^3^( even if the last two arcs had there problems... still good though.This pic kind of annoyed me as my new pen split meaning the lines kind of fluctuate between fine and not so fine... I gotta get into digital art more.
Anyways, on the issue of requests ive got two to finish over the next few days, a lil comic for and a logo for . Only problem is that I have a test coming up on Monday that I really need to revise for, meaning it might take me a few more days, sorry guys.
And playing as running back for the Cloudsdale Chargers, Rainbow Dash. Up against the kicking team specialists the Ponyville Patriots, lead by captain Applejack! Pinkie acting as cornerback with Rarity and Fluttershy on crowd control. Taking down plays for future matchs is coach to her brothers team the Canterlot Cavaliers, Twilight Sparkle. Yeah I know... dat Twilight, you guys/gals are so predictable.
Edit: Forgot the detail on the wrist bands, derp! Onward to the Hearth Bowl!

So all the effort I place in to a picture is rendered moot due to the inclusion of ponies? Classy.
I'm not saying I don't agree that appealing to the biggest audience isn't a cheap tactic but not when you're part of said audience. And even if you're not, it's not like it makes your artwork worse.

I really like this! I do think that the color on AJ is off somewhat though, I thought it was Big Mac at first. It's just super red.

I despise sports, but Rarity and Fluttershy as cheerleaders... So cute!
Applejack's and Scootaloo's coat colors look a bit off, but other than that nice image!

EXtremely excellent art, MR. AJ and RD fits their roles perfectly, so do Twilight, Rarity, Fluttershy, Pinkie and the CMC. Guess Football is crazy awesome in Equestria. Wonder how they do with Baseball.

Alot of the BG ponies have Football (Hoofball?) cutie marks and Fluttershy did sport a helmet in the dragon ep.

Dang, this is some fine-ass graphic work. I especially like the way the desaturated colors combine with the uniform line weights to give it a kind of "transistor-age magazine" feel.
The composition and dynamism are top notch, too.

I think I understood all of two words in there initially... THE MORE YOU KNOW! Thanks for the nice words, Eyeshield 21 has some of the most dynamic poses in any manga. Its why it works as a sports manga where alot of others just don't.

Aw shit, I remember Eyeshield 21... I only paged through it in some issues of "Jump" I picked up but it was hilarious to see "fuck" censored out even in Japanese in some episode where they go to America or something. But yeah, those compositions were crazy intense. Guy had a really good eye for motion and depth of field.
"Saturation" and "desaturation" are great color words I wish more people knew. Dunno why they never get around to them in elementary school art class - I guess they'd rather have you paint color wheel after color wheel and learn what "complementary" means over and over. "Line weight" is another great one - It basically means "thickness" but in relation to like, the rest of the line in total. Like calculus. Keeping it absolutely regular is great for really "graphical" illustration like this, for that kinda mid/late-20th Century "clean line" vibe.

What catches my eye on this is the coloring style. It looks so 70's retro. I love it! It looks like what one would really do for a 70's/early 80's movie poster, like Animal House. This is brilliant!

The most impressive thing about this artwork is that it`s drawn and even colored on a paper! Since it`s scanned, it does has the feeling that it`s drawn on the paper, but other than that, one would have to take a good look on the outlines and stuff in order to realize it`s not drawn on computer. Seriously, I can understand how outlines could possibly be so fine and steady, but how on Earth did you colored this so perfectly??
