After Kaname left and was killed by Hisagi the head captain Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto made her Captain of squad nine because she is Kensei's daughter and she is strong like him. Hisagi didn't mind her becoming the squad captain because he will do anything to protect her because he as feelings for her. Kiho finds out that her father is still alive when they are fighting aizen and is group. She never told Hisagi who her father was.
