Not 17-year cicadas!!!Okay, now that that's out of the way...
Here is the adult winged form of a more annual species of cicada. They come out in late July/early August, make a lot of crazy-loud noise, spawn, and die. I don't know what the actual species name is, I just call them "Army Cicadas" because of their camouflage coloring--it looks like army fatigues!
They are also referred to as “Dog-Day Cicadas” and “Locusts” (which is wrong! Locusts are grasshoppers!).
Scientific name: Tibicin canicularis
