Description Tiger, tiger burning bright
In the forests of the night ...

...or however that poem goes. This tiger isn't on fire but I did burn him -- with my woodburning set. This is the final version of:
Step one: [link]
and
Step two: [link]

I think I like woodburning simply because I have to slow down to do it. You have to stop and let the iron heat back up and then stop and let the stains dry, otherwhile the colors puddle and stuff like that.

I don't know if I'll take this to ConDFW or not. My son Paul is all for selling it but my hubs ~wdh61 has been making this pouty face and hinting around about the empty wall in the Scout room.

Woodburning, Pantone wood stain markers, and Sharpie oil-based markers on 12"x12" birch plywood.

Hi There!
You have just earned yourself an O.D.D. feature ! congrats!
ODDS (oibyrd's daily deviations) are to honor the sometimes overlooked artists of dA that I personally think deserve some exposure (and ALSO, to show off people who I think are undeniably talented in their own genre of art, REGARDLESS of their #'s of fav's or pageviews. I like what I like and sometimes artwork isn't featured in the regular DDs because it's popular all on it's own It's a shame, but the admins are only trying to be fair! ). Please click the link below to see your work featured and to view other featured artists . If you prefer not to be a featured artist, just send me a note and I will remove you from the list. Cheers! xoxo Sandi oxo

picture looks great. although being a pyrography artist myself, looking at your second step and then you finished product it loos as if you took that sharpie and colored your woodburnt line. if so i feel it takes away from the concept of woodburning. still a nice piece of art. please take a look at my gallery and comment on any of the woodburnings

LOve the colors, especially on his eyes. I agree in what purplegoldfish said. You're so good in every medium!

Wow that turned out great! I've been following the process and it's pretty cool. Pouty husbands, cute. Make him think you sold it then whip it out on his birthday, haha.

You got the first couple of lines right, except for the spelling (though that's no big deal). The first stanza goes:

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

Here's the rest of it.

As for the image, you've got quite a skill there. I can imagine this must've taken days or weeks to finish. I find the colouring in the eyes, in particular to be quite striking. The only thing I can see that's a little less than optimal is where the two ear tips overlap the blue border - they're a bit hard to see. Other than that, it's a great piece.
