Yeah, I think girls have always been my main proficiency, the boys were kind of half-assed but I couldn't think of anything else. I guess making a cross between Naruto and Neji should have been kept in mind, because I had Neji be an influence for the strawberry-blonde girl anyways, haha. XD
Thank you for the comment, I especially enjoyed hearing you point out the alternate tinting for her byakugan. :3
(I still wish Boruto had byakugan eyes, or blue pupil-less ones. I believe in one of the first family concept drawings, it appeared he did. My only personal 'complaint', lol).

Girls are much easier to design for, since there are far more different styles that are acceptable for girls/women, while overfeminine designs on boys/men are always seen statements about the characters sexual orientation.
Boys are hard to make interesting designs for. And all versions of Narutos sons seem to end up looking like his clones, mini-Naruto is the most common fan design, no matter who the mother is, and canon gives us Boruto who is so much alike with Naruto both physically and in terms of personality.
You know despite it making total sense to use Neji as inspiration for what Naruhina son could look like, I never really think about that. I guess it's the fact that he's Hinatas cousin, and I personally don't look related to my cousins, except all of us are blonde haired, blue eyed white people(huge variety in shades of color and totally different looking facial features), but with Neji it makes sense to use him as a basis, since his and Hinatas dads are identical twins, so genetically their kids are half-siblings.
I do like the idea of the non-Hyuuga parents eye color effecting slightly the tint of the byakugan, though I would have personally made it more muted, kind of making the byakugan seem like it's cataracts over eyes and the true eye color shows through a bit. I guess the reason why I see byakugan looking like cataracts is the fact that the characters have slight pupils that are equally white, so it reminds me of real cataracts that mostly effect the lens of the eye, but in advanced cases can effect the color of the iris as well.
I think non-Hyuuga parents coloring could effect the byakugan tint, since canon Hyuugas we have seen seem kind of marry within the clan(to keep the byakugan out of other clans hands). Some fan actually came up with the theory that Hyuuga women regulary go on to have kids with non-Hyuuga men to prevent the family getting too inbred, that theory makes lot of sense to me and neither of Naruhina kids having byakugan makes me think it's recessive gene, so the Hyuugas probably expect both Boruto and Himawari to marry Hyuugas once they are grown, since there is strong likelyhood that they would have kids with byakugan, if married to Hyuuga.
I don't know if I would like Boruto having byakugan, because I actually kind of like it being recessive gene, while sharingan which fans expected to be the recessive one turned out to be dominant gene(unless one of Sakuras parents is the result of one night stand with an Uchiha(or Sakura herself)). And I like the idea that all Uchihas had the potential for sharingan, but some of them just never managed to awaken it(Uchihas themselves probably started the rumor that sharingan is recessive gene, to make it seem like useless effort for other people to have kids with them in the hopes of having a kid with sharingan), kind of fits with their theme and contrasts with the Hyuugas who have visible kekkei genkai, but can't actually pass it on to kids if they don't get the gene from both sides of the family.
For some reason I find all of the fan modifications to Naruhina kids that give them byakugan to look kind of creepy, even when the artist is really good. I guess it's because the combination of whiskers and byakugan makes the kids look kind of demonic and creepy, because neither of the traits occur naturally in people, so they seem inhuman.

Heh, okay, well I learned this stuff in 7th grade myself, which was 8 years ago -- but for whichever stuff here isn't 'realistic' I did because I wanted to make a good 'next generation' design, like giving the strawberry-blonde girl that hair color as a mixing between Kushina's red and Naruto/Minato's blonde, since everyone else uses the exact hair colors from Kushina, Naruto or Hinata to give the would-be children. And since Hinata gets her hair color from her mom, but the rest of the Hyuuga seem to primarily be brunettes, I gave the brown haired girl brown hair (lol) for that reason. 'Tis nice to combine all the best traits and not let one be forsaken over another.
I also gave the brown haired girl unusually big eyes/irises like the Hyuuga, but blue eyes like Naruto cuz I think brown hair/blue eyes are pretty and also cuz that's one of Naruto's main traits, so it's fun to use it.
And I gave the red haired girl a different tint to her byakugan eyes also for the fun of it, but also because in the manga illustrations Kishimoto seems to (or seems to have used) a light blue for Neji and of course the characteristic lavender on Hinata.
So with this old illustration I did toy around with realistic possibilities, but in the end the OCs and designs I settled on were because of artistic judgment.

I think for the eyes, in Hinata's side of the punnett square, it should be Byakugan, purple or blueish purple, and for Naruto, eyes should be blue/blue since blue is the weakest of all of the recessive eye colors.
Also, for hair color, black/brown/blonde and red are inherited separately.
It should be:
Naruto: blonde/blonde
Hinata: black/brown
and redness:
Naruto: no red/red
Hinata: unknown, but either no red/red or no red/no red
But you seem to understand the rules of genetics more so than most of teh fanartists and authors that I've seen/read.

lol you're the artist. The hair genes are already set in stone in real world science, but the Byakugan one is up to our imaginations. The one that I'm going to use in my fanfics from now on is that it's separate from eye color and most Hyuugas, including Hinata, are Byakugan/normal eye, but the clan has only white eyed people because the gene, which is dominant, actually controls a huge lot of biological processes beneath the skin and kills off all of the eggs/sperm that don't carry the gene, thus resulting in 100% white eyed population of the Hyuuga clan lol
Perhaps you could try another punnett square just for the kids

Er, that's what I said I was gonna do, for the kids.. er... <.< now I'm confused.
I was also thinking that color is separate from the byakugan, cuz one of my watchers who is a biologist was reminding me about phenotypes, so I gives my red-head OC offspring fawn-colored Hyuuga eyes. XP
I was also thinking that whether the pupil is visible or not is not relevant to being able to use the byakugan, but being that Hyuuga's pupils are 'white' or blended with the iris, there may be some advantage behind it. Not really sure what though. Black absorbs and white reflects, but can a white pupil absorb just as much? And if it reflects light, what does that do? <.< Yeah, so I haven't really decided on what to make up, fanfic physics-wise and whatnot. But I picked the strawberry-blonde and brunette girl as my primary NaruHina OC offspring, and sorta decided that the brunette, who has visible pupils but the wide size of a Hyuuga pupil, can tap into byakugan but she has no skill for it without special training, so the chakra in her blood vessels don't pop and stuff.

sorry for the confusion. I'm a biologist, too, and just love genetics so much that I read up on related texts whenever I can. I tend to go nuts when it comes to this subject and required genetics and biochemistry classes beat much of that into me.
Hopefully this'll make more sense. A gene encodes for a single protein. Different combinations of genes are active in different parts of the body and this is how hands are different from eyes and so on. Which combinations of genes are expressed at what location at any given time is regulated by the activity of other genes. Because different cells have different combinations of genes active, and thus different levels of proteins and other things, the same gene, when active, might have different effects on different cells. Same with the presence of gene products.
Thus, the presence of a mutated allele in a person's genome can affect more than one body part, and in different ways. One real life example is cystic fibrosis and how it affects the skin, lungs, the GI tract, and the reproductive system and if one takes the symptoms of each affected area separately, it might all seem unrelated.
I figured it might be a similar thing with the Byakugan. My theory is that the gene itself encodes for a cell surface protein and is active in the eyes and the reproductive tract. The protein, when coupled with another protein normally found in the eye, causes for changes in chakra patterns around the eye, which in turn, modifies the rest of the eye into a Byakugan. In the reproductive system, in the presence of different proteins and chemicals, it changes the chakra into something that kills ordinary sperm or eggs. However, the cell expressing the gene is immune to such effects.
anyhow, I'm a nerd and love figuring out Naruto genetics.
Your OC's are still awesome. I don't think any of the Hyuugas can activate their Byakugans without special training.

Quote from Wiki "Tsunade pointed out that Kushina was a woman well-known for her beauty. Her skin was fair and her eyes were violet (portrayed as a gray in anime). She had a slender but highly feminine build. As an adult she usually wore a loose-fitting dress with an apron and she wore a black band on her left hand. She had long, bright-red hair (portrayed as a red-plum color in the anime), a common trait amongst the members of the Uzumaki clan, that reached down to her calves with strands that framed both sides of her face that was parted to the left of her face by a hair clip. In her childhood, she had a round face which with her red hair made her look like a tomato. "
