Edit: I love the Crowntails! Sometime within the next two weeks I'll be buying a female crowntail betta for an Aquafarm that's coming in the mail. Can't Wait!

No male, just a female. They can be just as pretty, just shorter fins. But they're less aggressive. You can keep several females together in tanks. They're semi-agressive and will chase and display a bit on occasion, but nothing hurtful. The males are always displaying in their bowls because they see their reflection and that kind of life I imagine would be stressful, constantly seeing another male everywhere you turn. I want a female because I'm going to have a large snail and Ghost Shrimp and with the male bettas some are more aggressive than others. Getting a female just seems like the smart thing to do and they're still pretty. Also this thing is 3 gallons so I'm not sticking her in some 1/2 gallon bowl. I'm getting it a heater, aerator, live plants, and gonna use a little log of Ghost Wood that's been laying about that's going in there too. Need to boil the log a few more times to remove the tannin, it's what turns the your tea brown and wood will leach it into the water if it doesn't soak for a long time or is boiled to draw it out faster.
Do an image search for female halfmoon or female crowntail bettas.

That pic is from an auction site, so wish I may wish I might. The pair sold for only 300 USD in Thailand, I was actually expecting it to be over 1,000.
