How do you carve it to be so smooth? I'm using big scissors but it's being really resistant.

theres several ways to get smoother finish.

-use smaller scissors..lol i use a utlity knife and scissors by olpha that i got at local hardware store. i went through alot of blades . a sharpe olpha cuts and sculpts very nice. you can reuse blades for something else after but i proberly went through about 20. the olpha scissors are the best there is for the money im truley amazed at their quality and toughness and they stay sharp after ...everything . im due for new pair but mine have cut through everything..steel. foam, wire, more steel, fabric..they are great and perfect size for sculpting muscles.    shop.raphaelsewing.com/index.p…

- theres another product ive yet to try but hear great things about it . you have to order online here in Canada.

- another way is to stretch thin 1/8 foam over it after and you can make "skin" folds etc with it heres a quick vid i found on net.  (  www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQyeju…  ) you can latex directlly on top or add fabric layer.

- i used stretchy, sheer , "scrim" fabric for my skin . i wanted texure that resemnbled symbiote ..so i spray glued fabric over muscle groups stretched and tucked ends in natural folds and created some folds and skin lines to make more natural, then added 3 coats of latex tinted with black latex tint. the latex itself will help smooth it out further.
heres a link to my RPF page i have other info there and if you arent a member become one as its a great place to get info . very helpful and fairly pleasant community..lol

Thanks man!
I like those personna blades from the youtube video. I'll probably go with that. The electric foam cutter looks pretty cool but it doesn't ship to my local store for a while!
This is my progress with only big scissors lol: ruggala08.deviantart.com/art/A…

you can use electric turkey knife ..they are everywhere. and honestly i do most of my cutting with the olphas knives..just my preference and you have to respect the blade with safty but 95% of my Venom was done with it. always draw out first with paper on on the foam and make doubles . cut the first bone to fit then do the same to the other before you spray glue on.
good start on your suit BTW going to be a big boy..lol

Yup! I think I was just upset that they were doing a robotic transformers looking rhino in the new movie so I wanted to see if I could make a more traditional rhino costume.

yeah i agree they went full mech and you should never go full mech..lol
i like the idea of a mech/cyborg rhino using organic and mechanical  as really thats what he was just visually they did not have the visual vocabulary back when they designed him. but i picture him like a hybrid of the terminator, crysis armor but with the traditional rhino build and physique

heres a good exaple of the mech look that more appropiate     nebezial.deviantart.com/art/he…

and heres the best traditional lookm ive seen , great reference if you are going that route..sculpts always are

both those references are SICK.
i love the rough, bumpy rhino skin texture in that sculpt. no way i'll be that big though haha.
