Description Easily my favorite quote from Adam Savage. He's saying that he doesn't need any kind deity to keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't mess up. He can do that on his own. This is one of the fundamental reasons I am an Atheist.

And you know what? If you are doing bad things and NOT paying attention to what you are doing, there is something seriously wrong with you.

I agree. I've often said that if you need a god to be a good, decent, and moral person, you need your head examined.

Respect to Adam Savage, he's a true role model for atheists out there.

Awesome quote.

Life, in my mind, doesn't need to be anything but what we make it. I'm don't need anyone (be it person or a huge invisible parent in the sky) to conduct the way I live my life, be my moral compass, or keep score of what I do. I can do that myself. I trust myself, I can push myself, and I know the difference between good things and bad without empty threats of eternal bliss or torture.

In short: I can't agree more.

Thanks for the post.

Thank you, one of the things i love about this quote is that i'm so used to seeing Adam Savage being a complete goofball on Mythbusters, that it surprised me to read such a profound quote coming from him. And it's probably one of the most impacting quotes I've read from anyone. Another example of profound quotes from unsuspecting pop culture things is from Pokemon: The First Movie- Mewtwo Strikes Back, "We do have a lot in common. The same Earth, the same air, the same sky. Maybe if we started looking at what's the same instead of what's different... well, who knows" - Meowth and, " I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant; it is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are." - Mewtwo. both of these quotes gave me the same suprised reaction. I've been a Pokemon fan for 10 years, ive seen the 1st movie many times, but not until now had i taken some of the quotes in that movie to heart.

The true treasures in life are never sought, planned, or conducted; but spring out like clowns on a compressed spring. Sometimes we miss them with our noses to the ground, hunting for the meaningful, and sometimes they hit us in the chest. Surprising us.

I, personally, love it when this happens. And, it would seem, so do you. I'm glad to see that.
