I like the way he becomes more real as he leaves the box. The lower edge of his forelimbs has a rather dark line that seems a little jarring given the distance from the box, but that's the only thing I can think of. It is a really interesting piece, and I like it.

Wow, this is really impressive! I like how the details go from drawing to realism further from the page, starting with a sketch and ending at the life-like head. You have an excellent sense of body proportions and motion in your art, especially this.

Also, that's sort of how the drawing process goes, starting from a basic form and working toward a finished goal. And, when a picture is finished, it feels alive, like it can just jump right off the page.

THIS IS SO COOL!!!! :-D How did you do this??

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MonocerosArts In reply to purplecruiser [2016-07-20 18:09:04 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I was just sketching out a leopard and started painting it in, and I thought it might be fun to play with transparency, so I did this.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

purplecruiser In reply to MonocerosArts [2016-07-20 18:29:22 +0000 UTC]

Well, it certainly worked!! The leopard appeared to be jumping off a page and turning from two-dimensional to three-dimensional, as if escaping from the land of Art and Drawings and into our Reality.

MonocerosArts In reply to purplecruiser [2016-07-23 03:42:09 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I think it might be fun to do this with some other animals.

purplecruiser In reply to MonocerosArts [2016-07-23 03:51:23 +0000 UTC]

Perhaps a giraffe? As it's neck rises out of a box with a branch beside it, it gains color and depth? Or a dolphin or other aquatic creature, swimming out of a box?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MonocerosArts In reply to purplecruiser [2016-07-23 03:53:46 +0000 UTC]

A giraffe might be cool, or a fish or whale with a lot of details. A very smooth creature would be hard to show the changes in detail.

purplecruiser In reply to MonocerosArts [2016-07-23 12:09:43 +0000 UTC]

Oh. . . .I hadn't thought of that. I believe an orca would be out, under those principles . . . a blue whale?? I get that it's big, but if you stuck a bunch of barnacles on it and some starfish (it could happen!!) it'd look really cool!!
