Description This is the twenty-third MechOwlie that I have created, and he has been named Morpheus. He is a mossy green in colour with hints of bright silver throughout. He has a little clock on his tummy and little silver ballpin feathers near his eyes.



Although this creature looks to be made from metal, it is not - it is completely handsculpted from polymer clay with the addition of a few metal findings. This piece has been glazed with a satin finish for a slight sheen and durability.

I was looking around for an FAQ blog or some such but gave up (after half a minute XD)
I just love how these owls look, the fact that it's clay blows my mind!
I adore the silver sheen and worn metal look these owls have.
I had a quick question though, how do you sculpt textures such as the knurled pattern under this owl's eyes?
Do you just have a roller with that texture on it?
And the little number on the clock just UGH *o*

Thanks very much! All of my textures are made using found objects. Hardly anything I use is actually used for it's intended purpose. Lol. I use old springs from lighters, gears, watch parts, the handles of sculpting tools... anything I can get my hands on. You just have to look at objects in a different way. There are so many tools out there with neat texture. BUT the clock on his tummy is an old metal pendant I got my hands on. That part isn't clay. But it fits well.
