Description This is the 76th piece in my Industrial Heart collection, entitled, Remedy.

Like most of my Industrial Hearts, this piece starts with an anatomically correct human heart made from polymer clay - the base. With all of the components of a real human heart, it has also been made to look metallic and Industrial with its panelling and rivets. Gears, metal findings, and other various things are also added.

The entire thing has been antiqued with black acrylics to give it an aged and used feel. As always, there is a stainless steel loop in the back which will be attached to a keyring style jump ring and strung onto a necklace.

This particular piece has inspired by this e-mail:

My girlfriend has TOF [tetralogy of fallot] which is a congenital heart condition where she had a hole in her septum, and a few valves were messed up. She had surgery when she was a baby and another when she was 2 years old. She nearly died because her heart rejected one of the valves and swelled up, and she was in the ICU for 19 days with her chest cut open. During that time, her kidneys also failed. I just wanted to give you a little back story because I don't know really how I would want her industrial heart to look.

Anyway, she's 17, and she's going to have open heart surgery this summer because her heart has outgrown her childhood surgery… you know, I feel kind of helpless not being able to do anything for her. She's been in a lot of pain in her heart lately, and I feel like I can't do anything… and I'm always the kind that wants to make things better. I try not to let her see that because I want to be strong for her.

I think it speaks for itself - he is basically like her bandaid... always there to make her feel better, safe, and comforted.

BTW are you still making these? I was planning on asking my dad to buy this for me for Christmas! If not, then it's fine.

I'm not taking any orders at the moment, no. I periodically have hearts in my shop, but not all the time.

How much do you sell these for? I also have TOF. It'd be nice to have something like this.

This piece is beautiful, especially after reading the significance behind it. I'm sure that it means more to her than any of us could know <3

Thank-you! I know they were very appreciative of the heart, and they both loved it so it made me VERY happy.

I think the story behind this heart is really beautiful, and the heart refelcts that. It's wonderful that this guy cares so much for his girlfriend and is so supportive of her

I think the story behind this heart was particularly, but I see you get lots of people who contact you with stories like this, and I think that it's really nice that your craft inspires people to act on their feelings

Thank-you! I really like it when people tell me their stories when they want me to make their hearts, because it makes it that much more meaningful.
