monteycarlos — A Night At The Albert

Description This is a long exposure of Albert Park Pier, located on Port Phillip Bay, Victoria.

With some moisture laiden clouds around, yet a very warm 30 degrees celsius, it was always going to be a nice night sky so ~maxiumas and myself decided to make a night of it.

Never forget the fun in photography - spending the night on the beach, in the warmth taking some nice shots and then heading off for a nice well earned beer afterwards. That's what it's all about.

I like the smooth touch in this one.. Lovely colors, beautiful sky.. It had must been lovely to watch but also to get a chance to photograph it.

Thanks very much. It was very nice to watch indeed. Sometimes I like to step back away from the viewfinder and just enjoy the moment. Luckily enough I had the remote this time so I could do both.

Thanks. I have a light meter but it is useless in low light and when using ND4 and ND8 filters. It is really trial and error for the most part, but I have come to realise how long I need to expose for in certain light conditions now.

Its kinda dependant on the light of your subject... I usually start with 2 minutes on a night cityscape at f/22. Then I see how that turns out and adjust accordingly. Its very hard to overexpose at night so just test it out. Good luck.

Yeah things are good. Extremely busy with work so getting out for photos is hard, but when the holidays come there will be plenty of time. How are things with you?

Thanks mate... took a little work to get it looking better (dust spots and diffraction crap) but it is ok. I am going to work on some others later. Still can't get them to stitch correctly.
