Description Some lightning over the valley of Salt Lake City. I love photographing lightning! This was taken with the deck on my house for stability, since I didn't have a tripod part, hence the blurry city lights. I believe that's the Copper Mine
Before photoshop, this photo was way overexposed because I had the shutter open for so long waiting for a little strike, but then finally this massive one hit in a blink of an eye. I messed with the levels and what not, and got this. I am so happy. Kind of disappointed about the tree in the way, but it adds some weird surrealism.

Having a kind of hard time remembering, but I'm pretty sure there was the loud, quick, "cracking" thunder noise. Was a pretty awesome storm

This is so beautiful, and yet my worst nightmare at the same time. I'm terrified of lightning, but at the same time it amazes me. I personally like the tree in the foreground. It gives me a sense of watching this from safety, although by a tree is one of the last places you want to be in a thunderstorm, haha.

Thank you! Me too, but it's so beautiful! And thanks, the tree was bad framing on my part, since I didn't quite know where I was aiming my camera in the dark. I like it as well, for the weird abstract look it has.

My dream is take lightning picture))) But we haven't any storms from fall of 2010. Last one was damn powerful, but bad luck - camera wasn't nearby.

Thanks! Oh no, that's a long time to go without lightening! I think I got really lucky with this storm, there was quite a bit! And ahh, that sucks You'll get photos next time!
