Cat's out of the bag!!! IDW TMNT has a new Turtle: JENNIKA! I did the first concept art for her back in 2017, so I've been keeping it a secret all this time! I guess DA has to add a yellow-masked Turtle emoji now.

Is your style on the turtles based somewhat of Nickelodeon's 2012 cartoon?

Not really! I was drawing Turtles in a similar way long before the 2012 show, here's one from 2002, for example:
Although in some of my IDW work, I was incorporating elements from the show (like Donatello being taller than the others), but not so much anymore.

Still not sure how I feel about Jennika....I miss Venus.*
*Yes she was a poorly written character, but so was every other character on the show, which leads me to conclude it was the writing itself that sucked and not the characters. I believe in the hands of writers who actually care Venus would make an amazing addition to the team. But that's just my opinion.

So I was thinking about having Venus as an composite clone of both four turtles, having the strength of Raphael, the intelligence of Donatello, the coordination and direction of Leonardo, and the speed of Michelangelo as well as a twisted version of his sense of humor, she was created by Baxter Stockman using their bloods and Mutagen-X to fight off the turtlesΒ

Very excited to see Jennika and more of how her character will grow when issue #96 comes; she has really grown in past IDW TMNT issues when she was human.Β ^_^

Although, with Jennika being an original character and first female turtle in the TMNT IDW canon, i'm curious how Venus will be introduced in the IDW continuiity if IDW so chooses?Β if so, she would pretty much follow the same design like with Jennika (without the breast plates) but with her backstory and personality still intact and adopted from "Next Mutation".
