Description A cloud descended upon us one morning.

[a little tampering in Photoshop, but not as much as you might think]

(constructive criticism is always welcome!)

Edit 19/11/05: There is now a 1600x1200 version here: [link]

Thanks for your comment I'm glad you like it. It was indeed an extraordinarily beautiful scene that morning and I'm glad I have this photo to remember it.

Nice The fog has a lot of substance in this pic. Good job!

Thanks! Yes, it was *unbelievably* thick and tangible. Very wet too. I like to think it was a low cloud (this was taken on quite a high mountain), but some have argued that that's the same as fog. Anyway...

Thank you! It was taken in Coonabarabran, NSW, Australia. On a mountain.

Truly beautiful. The contrast between the grey and green works great.

Thank you Yes, the colour contrast in this photo is probably why I prefer it to the many (many) others I took that morning!

My stepfather saw that image (now my desktop wallpaper here ) and thought it was a pporly rendered one because the contrast looked so unreal

Yeah, my friend saw it and the first thing she asked was if it was a composite!

*g* nice
But it is really stunning ... do you have a 1600x1200 version of it?

Well, how can I resist such flattery? I've made one for you here: [link]

Like I say over there, I've tried to make it the same, but yet again I don't remember exactly what I did. Someone (possibly you?) once told me that Photoshop kept a record of everything you've done to make a picture, and I had saved this one so I thought I'd be fine, but alas. This History thing is apparently wiped whenever you close a file. Do you know of any way of saving that info? It's a bit of a pity to lose that, for someone with a memory like mine...

Oh wow, I just love it! I love how some trees are closer and darker through the fog. And the bright bright! green makes the photo really awesome. Nice job I'm gonna favourite it... I'm so impressed.

Thank you so much! Yes, I like the variation in shades of grey due to distance too. It was something I consciously tried to include, to make the fog a bit more tangible. And yes, when I saw it I thought the green was quite striking too (even if it has been enhanced somewhat here). Well, I'm very glad you liked it and thanks a lot for the fav!

hrhr ! , what a great scenery
yes, i like the cloudy background..it has something dreamy and mysterious.
the extrem green gras makes a good contrast to the grey top of the pic.
All in one : excellent work ! *thumps up*

Thank you very much! Yes, the contrast is quite bold, even in the original photo. It really struck me at the time. And needless to say I was *loving* being in the cloud. Very dreamy and mysterious indeed

Thank you! What a lovely detailed critique! And I've never even heard of the word caliginous (and here I was thinking I had a good vocabulary!), but I've looked it up and it's a very apt description indeed.

Well, you've made me feel much better about this. I was a bit worried because quite a few people had looked at it and not said anything, which of course made me paranoid that something was terribly wrong with it but nobody wanted to say (Sometimes my imagination can get the better of me...)
