Spooky and somehow ethereal atmosphere. Nice picture, though I think it's a bit too overexposed in the top part ... it loses much detail in the leaves there and somehow this looks weird to me.

Yes, I knew someone (probably you ) would comment about the over-exposure First of all, I should say that the original photo was barely over-exposed at all. It has come to look that way through post-processing and I actually like the effect. I take your point that it looks a bit weird, and if I was trying to pass this off as a straight photograph I would be uncomfortable with it, but the "weirdness" is actually something I like in this image, as it does give an element of unreality to the scene. Making it, in my opinion, look more ethereal and not of this world. I like how the over-exposure makes the white seem more blinding, which fits with the whole afterlife idea. I guess we might have to agree to disagree on this one.

Also, since it was a tiny bit over-exposed, I did take a second photo with a shorter exposure, but I just didn't like it quite as much, somehow.

Thanks again for you comment. I certainly keep what you say in mind. I really am a lot more careful about trying not to overexpose my photos these days, but it is just very difficult with my current camera.

Oh well, you do not need to take my comments for the one and only truth Actually pictures depend on more than one can glimpse when just looking at the finished one and I usually don't know what you tried and discarded already

As for me, I almost bought a Canon EOS 20D (within the next few days I certainly will, currently I'm lacking money). Maybe I'm going to submit a bit more again then. You're free to comment

It is so dreamy, and, well, blueish It does have a very calm, ethereal feeling. Now this is no comment on your picture, of course, but I always think of the afterlife as being even more colorful than our current experience, full of colors that we can't even see now because of our corporal limitations.

Thank you for your thoughtful comment. Yes, calm and ethereal were exactly what I was going for with this one. And yes, seems I like this bluey/purpley shade. Sometimes a tint seems to add an extra something to the emotional reaction to an image, beyond what would be gained from B&W.

To be honest, I didn't put a lot of thought into the title. I just have this long list of song titles that I choose from. When I saw this one, it seemed to fit. Indeed, in a more positive mood I probably would not have linked a somewhat spooky image like this with what is hopefully a happier place. Complete with fluffy white clouds and angels perhaps...

I sometimes do a take off of a familiar title or phrase. My latest pic is entitled Where the red flowers grow instead of where the red fern grows. But mostly they are uninspired titles like blue pool room and the like.
