So I recently watched the film 300: Rise of an Empire, over the weekend. It wasn't particularly interesting, with the exception of Eva Green's astounding performance and the catty remarks that seemed to be a hallmark of Greek women.

Was inspired to try something concerning Artemisia, the Persian Commander, and hoped to capture her madness, battle fervour and chilling disregard. I'm not sure that I did any of that, let alone any likeness to Eva Green... But oh well. Attempted to emulated a Frank Miller Sin City style monochromatic with limited use of shading. Looks more Celtic than anything else, but was fun trying to bring out the form and values using just a few lines and the contrasts in between. I wanted to include a piece of text that was bouncing around in my head while I was drawing this, but it just looked off in the rest of the piece and detracted away from Artemisia. So I'll leave it here in case anyone is interest.
