Description Seeing that it's McTaylis 's birthday today, I thought I would draw him a picture as a way of saying happy birthday, here's Yetshi flexing and showing off a huge gun.

I'd have done it earlier but having a tooth taken out can be very time consuming.

I hope you like it.

Completely reworked the musculature on this drawing.

Overall

Vision

Originality

Technique

Impact

The concept of the drawing is quite original. The muscles look very simplistic, adding a little more detail such as veins and more muscle definition would captivate the viewer. But overall the muscles are not bad. The technique you used is very SIMPLE. From the looks of it you used mostly color pencil. Black to outline the outlines. And normal colors for the fill. There is some parts where you filled in color slightly darker than the other for example. On the pants near the crotch area and near the knee the color appears more darker than the rest of the pants. Small patches of dark colors in other words. Try pressing harder to bold in the colors. Then again you could use this technique for making a shadowy effect by bolding up the darkened areas and lightening the areas where there is no shadow. For example, you would press harder on the spots you want a shadow effect then lightly fill in the areas with normal color If not darken the areas with a pencil by smudging it around the darkened areas. This will create a light shadowy effect. Overall its not bad, but there is always room for improvement.

Thank you so much for this wonderful critique, you brought up some great points and I would be happy to work on improving those points.

I'll admit, I do get a bit nervous using black to fill in as I fear it might overlap with the linework, more often I now use a fineliner for when I'm truly happy with the results.

My suggestion would be if you don't have a scanner it to outline the drawing with black permanent marker then trace over it with another paper. The process takes some time but it the final product is cleaner and much better than the original.

Sorry for sounding stupid but...what do you mean "if you don't have a scanner it to outline the drawing"?

The idea is make the original drawing, then darken the edges with a black permanent marker. Then put another piece of paper on top of it to make it the final version. Also make sure you have another piece of paper underneath the original so the black marker doesn't bleed through. This well help clean up dirty messes.

Your sure made a step forward with this one , the lines now represents volume by themselves wich is mandatory for muscle drawing . Keep insisting on this inked line style with light shadows , it will help you a lot to get shapes and volumes at the same time that makes everything more clean.

Thanks Ed, at least someone thinks using Fineliner isn't a waste of time.

Waste of time?! , some of the better lineart I made in my life was with those they even have some advantages over digital inking and the result is usually more pleasant.

Exactly, ever since someone on FA said that Fineliner brings out the lines more and makes them more tidier I've decided to use them in all of my future pieces, anyone who says otherwise is foolish, I'll do what I want with my drawings.

Nice work on those colours and that pose for the most part. The only thing is that the legs look kinda weird and shapeless.

I'm not taking commissions or requests at the moment (I'm a bit put off doing them at the moment the last time I did a request) and I'm still trying to improve my own art to a certain degree so it might take a while, I'll let you know when I am doing those things (though watching me might be easier)
