"So you're sure the Blazikens won't get past these thorny bushes?" Moon poked another seed into the ground. "Wouldn't they just burn them down?"
Barley gave her a short laugh. "Of course I'm sure these will stop them. I've been close enough the Blazikens to know that they can't burn these particular ones. This kind of thorny bush grows everywhere on their planet and it's a huge problem for them. Luckily, while the Blaziken are too big to go through these bushes, we Quilava can easily jump through."
"Right." Moon glanced back at Barley, slightly concerned about how he was acting. He was never this enthusiastic about fighting the Blazikens before.
Barley noticed her cautious stare.
"Don't worry, little sis. Ever since I went on my journey, I realized just how terrible the Blazikens are and I've now given my every thought to stopping them from taking over our own planet. I know I wasn't interested in helping Quilava-kind before I left. But I really want to help now that I know what we're up against."
Moon wanted to believe him but something seemed really off about the way he was saying it.
She made a mental note to talk to Blaze about it. Maybe he had noticed it too. Maybe she was just imagining things. Either way, she wanted to make sure that Barley really was okay.
"You almost done?" Barley poked his head over her shoulder. "After you finish planting, we can speed up the bush growth with the Growth potion I received from the Scientists." He held up a large vial with green liquid. "The plants will be ready in just a few days with this."
From what Moon could remember, the Scientists had been too busy to make Growth potion when they had asked. But Barley had probably just asked again and gotten it when she wasn't there. Maybe.

I also tweaked Barley's design slightly so that he looks more like a Quilava and less like a scruffy mess. XD

For the Quilava Quarry July/August Prompt~
