Description This is a reference to one of the deleted scenes:

Listing letters of the alphabet took away the authenticity M. Night was going for. At least I think he was trying to be "authentic"...

I know they're speaking English, but they deliberately made up their own "Asian-like" writing for the movie. Why suddenly bring up the letter J (and others)?

And I think it's funny how the first shot of the very next scene is a close up of Katara's poster with the made up written language on it.

Did you expect authenticity after the casting was announced?

That is so true. The scene had good acting, but the whole letter thing makes no sense. Which always brings me back to the little annoyance of them changing the Traditional Chinese to a movie language that just looks like Chinese. I think it is completely plausible that another planet could have developed chinese the same way, I mean they are based on ancient drawings. And the show used Traditional Chinese... (sorry for the tangent)

The first time I watched the scene I didn't even notice the Kyoshi warriors so I was wondering why Soak-ah was making the weird faces.(you know, almost showing emotion.) The second time round I finally recognized them but didn't get the point. So they just ninja in? I guess Nighty just didn't know what to do with them. I also rolled my eyes when the medium lady started in on the J thing.

Wait, if the are in the Earth Kingdom, then why are they wearing orange?

Earth Kingdom villages wore a variety of colors in the show too. But having an entire village wearing red and orange probably wasn't the best idea for the movie. They should have kept it simpler for people that weren't familiar with the world.

Saw the deleted scene and it looked like the only scene with genuine acting in it. The characters were having fun and Aang was actually puzzled by someone else's behavior. After showing the Kyoshi Warriors, I screamed at my pillow towards M. Night's incompetence.

Yeah, they probably cut it out because the woman playing the medium could actually act, and it made everyone else look bad/worse.

I like the look on Aang's face when she gets everything wrong. It's one of the few moments where Aang actually seems like a human being, even though it's just a simple facial expression. XD
