Description This was one of my first real adventures into North Dakota after a year of living here.

The Icelandic State Park is 912 acres of adventure. This park included some really awesome finds each as Akra Hall, Hallson Church, Cranley School and Gunlogson Homestead.

This building is the Cranley School.

My adventure here was a bit cut short due to the weather and it being torando season I still got to get in some amazing pictures before having to run for the hills.

What a wonderful looking building. It's in really good Nik! Is it being restored/preserved through a Historical Society? There are lots of old structures like these in West Virginia. Stay safe and do like the old saying goes...when in trouble, head for the hills!

This is a state park in North Dakota. This is the old school house. I know they use this area for field trips for the kids a lot. I went up to see what was going on and it was an amazing trip!

Funny, my Mom went to school in one of those small one room schoolhouses back in the day.

I missed this, it's beautiful. I looked at your link and others. I guess there must be great open spaces and forests, for great adventures,...I do like this.
Btw, thank you for everything Kenni, you're very nice girl, you know. But now don't flush so much

This looks like icelandic architecture indeed. Except for the chimney maybe.

What are you trying to do with them?

I didn't go in there with a flash so what I am now trying to do is clean them with brighten them up and no one. I am having the damest time trying to get the levels right so they don't look so horrible... and grainy... I believe I might be having to scrap them altogether.

Are they under-exposed? If yes, don't push up the shadows too much. Are you shooting in RAW? If not you will have a lot of grain when bringing up the shadows. Especially for shadow and highlight detail there is much more information saved in RAWs than in jpegs. I don't think you have to scrap them though. Try to hold the grain at medium levels and publish in low resolution like this one. Grain only becomes very apparent to the eye in high resolutions in most cases.

This remembers me of the time I visited Venice with an old Minolta film camera. I didn't have a flash, either, (it wasn't allowed in those churches anyways) and photographed at really low shutter speeds. Sometimes down to 1/8 s without any form of stabilisation. I ended up with really dark, sometimes blurry pictures. Still better than having no pictures at all imho though.

Yeah they are really under exposed. I forgot a lot of stuff when I went to go out on this adventure... well I didn't know about this adventure... more like my dad said "lets go check out this place get in the car in 3 .... 2... 1... and poof... kinda thing. Looking back on it I should keep my bag better packed from now on.

Haha, while spontaneous trips can be really nice, there is often a great benefit to planning things out.

Yeah that's always like the best part is having it planned out. Something my dad still a bit confused on after 13 years of me and my camera. I still give him an A for effort cause He has no fear to drive anywhere.
