There have been growing calls to abolish ICE as millions of Americans have come to realize just how horrible ICE truly is. [1]

ICE's current leadership is full of corrupt officials, such as one attorney who stole over a half million dollars from immigrants. [2] The ICE official was sentenced to nearly 18 years in prison, one of the longest sentences ever given in a public corruption case, showing just how bad corruption truly is under ICE. Many ICE agents have been arrested for attacking and abusing innocent civilians, which reveals a systemic problem among the agency's employees. [3]

ICE has tried to deport many refugees who are hear in the US for political and religious reasons, such a group of over a hundred Indonesian Christians who came to the US to flee Islamic extremists. [4] ICE has also been accused of wide spread sexual abuse of its inmates, with LGBT immigrants in particular being sexually abused at higher than suffered at normal prisons. [5]

Besides the sexual abuse, ICE has also killed numerous immigrants in their custody, with the death toll at immigrant detention centers reaching their highest total since 2009. [6] This is also not counting the countless scores of immigrants who were killed shortly after being deported, such as this 19 year old Iowan who was killed just three weeks after being deported to Mexico. [7]

As such, it is clear to me that ICE as it currently stands needs to be abolished, and we should either go back to way immigration was enforced in the pre-ICE era or perhaps completely rework the currently broken US immigration system to be more humane and sensible. [8]
