AKA "Karoo Night Watchman"A solitary aloe stands watch over the Milky Way in the Karoo desert, South Africa.
This is a single exposure, foreground illuminated with flashlight and background illuminated by the moon.

Wow that's gorgeous - the tree looks almost surreal against the starry sky. It's a very clear photo with a lack of noise. One problem I have with night shots is that they tend to come out looking quite grainy, but you've managed to avoid this. Great work!

I notice that you had this exposed for 25 seconds. May I ask what exactly you did to get the foreground so well illuminated without overexposing it?

I used an LED flashlight which I bounced off my hand for a warmer glow and also got some assistance from the rising full moon...
