Description I got the photo I used for this drawing off the Internet and it was called "Babe" and made no mention of the photographer. Red Hot Red is the name of hair color Bowie used to dye his hair for Ziggy Stardust. This is my third in a series of vector art I'm trying. I enjoy this new work very much, but it doesn't meet the criteria for VectorArt because I rasterize the shapes and filter them. Since I am a photomanipulator that's what I do! So. Now, I will be submitting these works under digital art/drawings/fanart.

I think about this piece every time I look at your icon which is like everyday!! This piece was so much fun to make. It is one of the very first vectorArt I've done.

Thank you so much! How did you get the text in bold type?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

kayori In reply to Morninglori [2006-01-15 03:59:35 +0000 UTC]

Like this: < b > type text here < / b >

Without the spaces. You can also underline (just substitute the b for a "u" and italicize with an "i". ^_^

At that point in his career, the weirder the better! I have trouble making people understand when I show them Ziggy pics

I have that same trouble. For years I didn't share my BowieLove with anyone, everybody was so Anti-Bowie or something! WTF? Ziggy especially freaked out my 'friends'...of so they called themselves, anyway. I've found some here at DA, though!! We love him!! Bowie Rocks!!

I know that feeling, eventually I gave up on everybody else and used Bowie's pictures as a torture device It's amazing my friends haven't ditched me yet... actually a few have but who cares what they think!

I think that if the whole picture is done in vectors but is then rasterized for web viewing, it still fits the vector art criteria. Isn't most vector art rasterized before it's put on the web anyway?
You did this beautifully. The detail in the hair and lips is amazing.

Gosh! Well, thank you so much! Now, that you mention it, I guess the vector shapes DO have to be rasterized for the web. I'm new at Vector Art, so I wasn't sure.

Wow! It's good I've returned, because I get to see this marvel! His hair is just so awesome! How did you do that? Lots of enclosed paths filled with radial gradients? /me also likes the effect with the leather - it's funny how one can tell it's leather but it's only composed of 2 colours

Bravo!

P.S. I got a Wacom tablet and stylus for my birhday in September from my husband and father-in-law. (9x12)!!! I tell you it has revolutionized the way I do my digital art! This piece was done with the Wacom!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

judowillreturns In reply to Morninglori [2004-12-14 02:24:44 +0000 UTC]

Wow, that's MASSIVE! I just bought myself a wee 4x5 inch one... it's not even a true 3:4 ratio like yours is (Monitor resolutions are 3:4) - although I don't notice any weirdness myself.

I've gotta work on being able to draw straight lines now! When I use the tablet it looks more natural but I can't draw straight; and when I use paths I can't get the pen-pressure dynamics but I can draw booteeful lines and curves!

Well, ya-know what they say - practice makes perfect!

Morninglori In reply to judowillreturns [2004-12-13 14:44:17 +0000 UTC]

Oh my! Thank you, Will! The hair is about seven different layers. Some of them are clipping paths with gradients and some of them are freehand lines of color with a blur added. Yeah, the leather turned out better that I had hoped. There are no gradients on the leather. It was a flat black layer shape. All the highlights are are flat white shapes on a seperate layer.
