I wonder how easy it would be to play DDR if they just detached their legs and let their legs do the dancing, while the rest of them sat somewhere else watching? Would it be easier or harder if their legs were just jumping on the buttons doing the dancing, or not?

Well without being attached to other parts of the body the legs probably couldn't jump very well or move to different directional keys.
