Those of you who have stumbled into my website may have noticed I've spent a lot of my spare time with a game series called Thief. Still, I have never before drawn anything related to those games, up until now. This is a haunt, the "help it's after me with its evil whispers and laughter and I can't shake it AND I'M GOING TO DIE" baddie, which made especially Thief 1 such a wonderfully horrendous experience.I'm quite proud of this painting, because it's the first time I've painted a skull, cloth, a vaguely humanlike figure, fog, metal... Pretty much everything in this is a first, except the pillars. I was even using the new tablet for a painting for the first time. It's not the best image ever, but I'm very happy with it. It was fun.
This image = Wacom Intuos 2 + Photoshop CS2 + about 10 hours. There went my Thursday afternoon and evening.

Wow, that's a great depiction of a Haunt right there. Its red clothing faded, armor old and unpolished... looks like that guy's been down there for a while.
With the mouth open, it almost makes me imagine that the Haunt is surprised as well, to catch an intruder in its crypt.
Oh, I had quite my own share of screaming in terror while fleeing these nightmares, sprinting away at top speed, knowing they were right behind me due to their laughter... desperately searching for a safe place to leap into and get them away from me!
Great job, I hope to see more Thief works from you, this one is just awesome.

How did you paint the fog? Did you set the brush at a low opacity?

Yea, the fog was done with both opacity and flow at about 30% if I recall correctly, then some liberally applied smudge. Turned out alright, especially considering it was close to 3 in the morning at the time.
