Description ...don't make me come find you.

(Are you a beginner with Photoshop like me, and are looking for something quick and easy to paint? Hint: don't choose something with huge flaming wings, surrounded by lava.)

Here's a more traditional dragon than the previous one, except he's on fire instead of breathing it. I figured any respectable fire dragon would be happy to show off their chosen element, right? He doesn't look happy because you just woke him up from a nap. Or it could just be that the whole being-on-fire thing is making him cranky. In any case, you'd better get out, fast.

This fearsome fire dragon was mousedrawn in Photoshop CS from scratch. Took me ages. I so want a tablet.

Looks like this is the beginning of a series of dragons, the first one being the water creature in Underwater .

Ooo! I really like how fuzzy this picture is! Have you ever noticed that when you look at fire it can seem sort of hazy? Or, if you look down a tar road on a hot day, and the ground seems to move because of the heat waves coming off the road? It reminds me a lot of that. (Which is a good thing!) I like it a lot!

This is very good for a beginner in PS. The cracks on his back looks very glowy, and it sure looks like he's on fire (witout over doing it too!)
The wings look a bit of thou. Maby theire to black?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Morrgan In reply to Abstormal [2006-03-04 12:34:15 +0000 UTC]

Ah, the wings looked perfect (in my opinion) on a white background, but once I started adding the background to this image, the colouring got screwed up and I couldn't make them look as good again. I guess that's one important lesson I learned while making this pic. Thanks for the comments.

Wow… I absolutely love this picture! I love how you made bright cracks in the dradons skin like he is constructed of molten lava and only his hide is keeping him from melting all over the place. I font myself staring at his face, I like the contrast of the eyes and nostril against the darker hue of his skin, also I think this benefits from you drawing a head that is shaped differently then a lot of dragons one tends to find, gives this piece a sense of originality. The only thing I think that would improve this image (I had to look long and hard to find a section that didn’t absolutely enthrall me) is the elbow of the dragon, it looks a bit too rounded, and makes me think of this Gumby toy I had way back when.

I like that you kept the "light" flames and lava on the left ... and the cold rock and cave tunnel towards the right ... good composition!

I absolutely love this. One wee thing I would comment on is the sharpness of the rock behind his legs. His talons feel kinda floaty. But all in all, a fabulous piece
