I don't know if you were trying to do this, but it goes along the same lines as the vagueness and ambiguity as to what's going on.
The way the 'rider' is connected to the lance I can't tell if he's being skewered or if he's skewerING somebody. The effect is unsettlingly attractive. Gives a grim sense of mystery to the whole thing.

The darkness of your work is what gives it its allure. It looks epic and classic like from back in the day...back when...I have no idea. Everything works together in your work here, the strokes you used, the shading, and color (or lack thereof) with the action that's going on. Great imagery.

im a huge fan of dark, black and white work. my fav medium to use.
im also a fan of fast work, i think it gives a great authentic look.
