Gabriel Amakusa is the son of Jeanne d’Arc and Shirou Amakusa both of the Heaven Faction best generals during the time of the Great War. His mother, Jeanne d’Arc is renowned by Heaven and feared from both Devil Faction and the Grigori as the Queen of Heaven and Golden Angel. Blissfully unaware of both his parent’s heritage, he spent the majority of his childhood at Hinansho. A nearby village from Fuyuki city was on the verge of becoming a town.

While Gabriel loves both his parents, he admires his mother above all else and follows her example. Either it is Jeanne leadership qualities when comes to Hinansho villagers, her morals, or her faith in God. Although he’s not nearly as devout as his parents, he still practices their Catholic faith.

Gabriel was the sole survivor of 13,000 lives in Hinansho village. The memorial was placed in Fuyuki City and named “Souls of Haven”. Reports believed that a mass earthquake destroyed the village. The of the matter truth was that Abaddon, the Captain General of Lucifer's elite forces known as the Black Thorn and arch-rival of Jeanne d’Arc, destroyed the village as the two fought. Ultimately killing her, while sparing her son.

Gabriel was soon later under the care of Kiritsugu Emiya. Even with the passing of his recent guardian, for six years he lived in Fuyuki City and enrolled in Fuyuki Academy until he was expelled and sent to juvie for the assault of Sakura Matou. After his release, he was enrolled in Kuoh Academy in a form of rehabilitation.
