Amazing you make it sound so easy. So cool I will try it but I doubt that it will look anything like yours. I hate rolling snakes of clay they nver come out even Love your tutorial though

rolling snakes when you make the canes you mean? I don't roll them. you pinch inward from the middle then then you pull and stretch them. you learn that in the books or dvds. you can roll them out once they start to get really small but i always but off pieces band roll them because it ruins the ends. these area few canes i made a few months ago. the more you practice the better you get! You can do it! [link]

Is FIMO the best type of polymer clay? What polymer clay do you suggest would be the best?

Can you slice it after you have baked it? o.o

And... Is it possible to put it in the freezer (before baking), to make it a little hard, so it's easier to slice it?

MotherMayIjewelry In reply to Mannylinn [2011-08-09 02:40:30 +0000 UTC]

I have a few questions....
How do you get the green in the white/transparent clay?
and how do you get the white in the to look like step 10?

(planning to use this for a project XD )

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MotherMayIjewelry In reply to EchoTreekeeper [2011-03-10 03:40:55 +0000 UTC]

follow step 9 to get to step 10 (roll the white clay around the cane, look at the picture if it makes more sense)
i get the transparent clay from hobby stores like Michaels crafts, Joann Fabrics or Hobby Lobby if you dont have those go online. for instance, fimo makes it and sculpey III and premo brand clays as well. GOOD LUCK!

how long?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MotherMayIjewelry In reply to GalaxyPuppy [2011-03-10 03:49:22 +0000 UTC]

depends on what clay you have, you have to read the package instructions.

Fimo clay never dries out, although it sometimes gets crumbly when it's really old.

So you can cut it after it comes out of the oven?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MotherMayIjewelry In reply to iodine-cracker [2010-12-20 01:24:26 +0000 UTC]

yes you can! its nice and warm...or hot just be careful that way the colors dont run like as if they wold when they were not baked. you could also opt to place the cane in the freezer for awhile to help prevent streaking. either way/ i just prefer to bake first.

What do you mean by roll out as thin as you like?

And also, wouldn't it be too hard to cut after baking?

Anyway, awesome tutorial!

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

MotherMayIjewelry In reply to cayliri [2010-12-20 01:22:34 +0000 UTC]

hi and thanks!
literally what it says. roll it out as think as you like. the smaller you roll the snake shape the smaller the cane slices.
as far as cutting goes, no its not hard tp cut after you bake. you cut it right after its baked so its still hot. be careful obviously but it slices perfect when its still warm!

I'm not sure, but I think she means that to make it a different size roll it out thinner. XD
