…. because I just didn’t memorize the structure Mt Rainier

Okay. So now the drawing. I have been planning this drawing for about a year now. The one in my head was much more detailed and very professional—my mind ALWAYS sets the bar too high. I try very hard.

Last year, I made a drawing for my Grandma, Narrow’s Pod ([link] ). It took a mighty long while, but Grandma liked it, and that was the intent! Course I could have drawn a polka dot on a mulched up cardboard box and she would have loved it; the grandkids can do no wrong. This year, it is Grandpa’s turn! I wanted to use deer for the animal, because he loves deer, and needed some sort of fixture of Washington State (like the Narrow’s Bridge in Tacoma). So this time I used Mt. Rainier!

The ground is terrible. I have been worrying about it for days and could not dream up any elegant techniques. So I just looked out my backyard window and sketched out what I saw (making it a tad greener—Washington gets a lot of rain … a LOT of rain ….). There may or may not be yakas in Washington, but they are littered in my backyard. We can pretend it is some other plant for the sake of location.

I didn’t have a good idea for the trees either. Hence the scribbles. Backgrounds are not my thing. If you go through my gallery, this is one among only 3 14”x17” drawings in full color (detailed—some are just solid color backgrounds, I don’t count these). That’s about 5 years worth of drawings. I’m lazy.

Like most of my drawings, you need to stand far away for it to be its best. The closer, the worser. NO full view please! Haha.

In conclusion, I like Muledeer. They are my friends.

I really like your style, even if it isn't like extremely detailed. (I suck at backgrounds too). Just so you know, we do get a lot of rain, but grass does dry out and die in the summer. lol. Anyway I really like how the dear and overall effect of this picture came out.

Indeed I am! I like to go camping a lot (Although I have only been to Mt. Rainer once) so this picture reminds me of that.

I really like how you've drawn the trees. That was one of the first things I said to myself, actually. Haha.
Anyway, this is really an awesome drawing, whether you think so or not. And I say that as a Washington native, so ha! Hehe. I don't know what yaka are, but they seem to fit in none the less!
Overall, you produced another wonderful piece of artwork, and I'm always glad to see them.

Oh! That means a lot comming from a Washington native and resident! You're a sweety!

Yaka, is actually spelled yucca (I can't spell, I need to go back and change it). It's a really spiky plant that grows in dry climates--a good hint that it probably is scarce in Washington ..... maybe the mule deer planted them for scenic pleasure!

See you next week!!!!!!!!!

Oh, I see. Maybe they grow in Eastern Washington and just got...transported somehow. Hehe.

Eee, it's only a week? That is crazy exciting!

Wow you do wonders with Colored Pencils and I like the ground it looks like what a regular forest should be. And to be honest when I first laid eyes on it I thought it was a Fire Bringer fan art.

Huzzah for Fire Bringer! I need to make some Fire Bringer fan art, I'm in love with that book.

Glad you think the ground is okay! I'm rather self concious about it.

Awesome possum job! This is most excellent, good choice of color and setup matey. The trees look like some form of spruce, hahahah, they look like the ones we have up here, so awesome job with them! I've always struggled with trees. The ground looks great, and the mountain is very impressive. I would've given the deer a bit more shading to make them stand out against the backdrop, because it looks a wee flat, but as for detail and form I give it two thumbs up! Huzzah for muleys and yucca!
