Description So, I was lucky enough to get my hands on a Benedict Cumberbatch head, made by an amazing etsy artist, Natrume.Β

The original plan was, of course, to make myself a great big resin Sherlock. But, cool though that would have been, it seemed a bit too on-the-nose, so I decided instead to do him up with similar makeup to Mr. Cumberbatch's portrayal of the monster in Danny Boyle's stage production of Frankenstein. I adapted the style/design a little bit, opting for a bit more comic-book-ish look.

Sadly, he won't have a body for a while, but I'm already plotting away to scar mod it when I am finally able to get one.

In case anyone is wondering, his mods are purely additive, done with elmer's glue, modge podge, and 3D texture medium. He has no permanent modding. I know some people get uncomfortable at the thought of modding an artist doll. Even though I support people being able to do whatever they please with their dolls, the thought gives me pause as well...sometimes.Β

Anyway...
His name is Monster.

Pretty nifty, love to see him when he's all together (you know eventually after all of your other projects) and I agree with you on permanently modding an artist doll, I think I would cringe about doing it to one to the point I'd probably just sculpt my own head at that rate.

But also...

I did a bit of googling out of curiosity and I think I came across your artist

Thank you so much for the name! I'll update the info. Definitely want to give credit to the artist for such a lovely sculpt.

I can tell why you fell in love with this sculpt, I showed him to my friend and she instantly fell in love with him too, though may I ask is this one they cast upon request or is yours the one and only? (and if they do, roughly how much were they asking)

I know mine isn't the only one. For a while she was selling them on her etsy (along with a couple other stunning sculpts), and then she suddenly stopped. I was lucky enough to find mine secondhand on the DenofAngels marketplace. I got him for 165 shipped, and I think that was around what the artist was charging when she was selling them, give or take.

Oh, I always love your work, and especially that this guy's mods don't affect the doll underneath. You did a wonderful job with this one!

Of course his name is Monster. That's a lovely sculpt Β you have to work with there. His eyes, even without Β an eyeball, look poignant.

I was blown away by the sculpt when I was finally able to see him in person. The artist did such an incredible job. Even blank he had so much life and personality...]it was instant love.

Aw, thanks so much! I'm quite pleased with how his mods came out. (and the best part is, if I ever get sick of this look on him, he can easily be wiped and redone however I like!)
