You are all kinds of welcome! To be honest, the only artists I've ever seen who never complain once about the quality of their work are nowhere near as good as those who worry about it a lot. A great artist needs a small degree of healthy dissatisfaction to keep them motivated, I think. It's like they say, you're your own worst critic. ^^

Yeah, and it's not just artists, either. I've seen all kinds of people say how awful something is, and then I've looked at whatever it is and gone, "Damn, that's the most skill I've ever seen displayed." I think artists are worse about it though, because you don't exactly run around showing people the score of your latest football game or the last calculus problem you've solved, but when you draw or write something you're stuck between wanting other people to see it and being convinced that it's probably bad...)

Yeah, I look at Desole's "sketches" and just want to saw my hand off at how beautiful they are.
And I am always torn between that dilemma of "is this actually worth showing everyone or am I wasting their time?" Especially with the art I've been doing recently *ahempornahem* it's so personal and sensitive that I dread the incoming judgement and criticism I know I will receive sooner or later 8__8

It's always like, "Ugh, I only spent twenty minutes on it and it's so crappy, look at everything that's wrong with it!" and I sit there knowing that I could study art for years and spend days on a piece nowhere near half as good.
Ehh, I don't worry about wasting people's time with drawing things, since drawings don't take long to look at--I just worry about people going on and glancing at it and saying, "Wow, how pathetic; this is absolute shit." Thus I upload just about nothing that I draw...But I definitely worry about wasting people's time with my fanfic; reading something takes a lot more time and I just don't think people will like it, so I don't feel comfortable asking them to look at it...Bluh.
Anyway, I honestly can't imagine anyone criticizing your comic. Even if they don't ship it (do such people exist?!) or they get freaked out by the prons, everyone has to admit that your art is beautiful.

That is what your expressions are. I love the way you use tongues--is that a weird thing to say? Probably. I mean when they make faces with their tongues sticking out...it's a little silly, but it's also hot, and honestly I imagine those two would sort of tease each other a lot, so it fits. (Did I just spend that much time talking about fictional mercenaries and how they use their tongues? Yes I did; moving on...)

WOULDN'T IT BE AWESOME? Like...I want that to be a thing now. I want to draw him. Shit, there's so much I want to draw but my everything is borked. Like, my pencils are borked. My paper. My scanner. My everything. MY LIFE IS BORKED.
But seriously, I get this image of the heroes fighting against his minions for so long, and then fighting through a whole bunch of them after like two seasons worth of wondering where they came from and bursting through these big-ass double doors, and there's this huge throne room and all that, and curled up in this throne that's about twenty sizes too big for him is this guy with glasses and a hoodie with his sketchbook out and headphones on, and when the heroes walk in, he sees the corpses of his minions and says something like, "Oh, no, you fought those ones? Agghh, I wanted to have better ones done for when you guys arrived; sorry they were all weak and stuff...Man, I suck at this. Probably the weakest supervillain you've ever fought, right? Haha, why do I even bother anymore..."
And of course he's already been responsible for the deaths of like three endearing side characters and a main character.
I am putting too much thought into this, but like...I want him to exist. Maybe I'll actually make that superhero comic I wanted to make someday, and he can be my villain...Hmmm...

My real life friends are surprisingly accepting of my obsession—partially because they’ve had to deal with similar obsessions before, although they were never as intense as this, partially because my best friend Ally is rabid about Helmet Party and therefore understands me, and partially because boundaries and personal space have never been a thing with my friends. More than half of them are dudes, and the other day I was hanging out with three of them when suddenly one of them turned to me and asked, “Do you mind if we talk about masturbation?” And then they DID. Once, my friend Sam found an animated gif of a boner and changed my desktop background to that without telling me. My one friend Nito will borrow my computer to find pictures of naked girls on reddit—and occasionally leave the pictures open there. The thing is, Sam also bought me the Sniper vs. Spy poster from the Valve store and Nito has sent me Sniper/Spy fluff in the past. We just accept each other’s bizarre tendencies and laugh about them. Every time I bring out my computer, they ask the same question: “So, writing some smut?” And when I talk to them about friends I’ve made through this pairing, at least two of them will also have friends they’ve similarly made through a fandom. I’m just really blessed to have them, I guess. ^^

holy shit....you and I are the SAME person, I swear to god.
My friends are all male, and I swear they do the same things. There is a picture here on DA called "Mr. Krabs in the Flesh" (it's a picture of a guy's dick with eyes and a smile drawn on it that kinda looks like Mr Krabs, I guess) and over the summer, every time I got away from my computer, my cousin (he's more like my best friend, really lol) would switch the desktop to that rofl.
And they do genuinely accept me and care about me. They don't mind my obsession in all honesty. In fact they're quite impressed that I've stuck with this one for a little over a year now. But in terms of what my boyfriend thinks; I think he's just saddened to see me "wasting" my talents, I suppose? He supports me, and is happy I'm drawing, but you know, he would prefer it's original or something. Personally, I think I've grown tremendously as an artist because of the tf2 fanart I've done- I used to NEVER draw men, and now I feel pretty comfortable with it.
Anyways, I would really like to maybe aim or skype chat sometime, since this has gone on pretty long and we keep finding more and more things in common with one another haha.

Mm, I guess I can sort of see where he’s coming from; sometimes when I’m writing fanfiction I’ll remember an original story I had in the back of my mind and feel a bit guilty that I’ve not worked on them at all and have only thought about someone else’s characters—but the truth is, before I started writing fanfic, I didn’t think writing was necessarily fun. Now I love it, and I know that when I do write those original things they’ll be much better for having had the practice, like you said.
