Description
When: May 26, 2019
Where: Dierenpark Zie-ZOO Volkel, The Netherlands
This species has - sadly - left the zoo at this point. But it was fun to see sort of a nursery band togeher with joeys of all ages tucked away
The one on the right is decidedly younger than the one on the left, who looks to be of an age where he could well hop around on his own. Yet, he chooses the easy and comfortable route.
Species: Red-Necked Wallaby (Bennettwallaby)
Latin name: Macropus Rufogriseus
Originates from Australia.
Current status: Least Concern
Did you know:
…They are distinguished by their black nose and paws, white stripe on the upper lip, and grizzled medium grey coat with a reddish wash across the shoulders.
…You’ll find Red-Necked Wallabies often resting during the day, since they’re actually nocturnal marsupials.
