Where: Mondo Verde Landgraaf, The Netherlands
The cubs had discovered the piece of old wood makes for a fine play ground, and they love sleeping on it, climbing on it, and just plain rough-housing in it.
This is, however, a somewhat calm moment.
Species: Southeast African, Transvaal or Kalahari Lion (Witte leeuw)
Latin name: Panthera Leo Krugeri syn. Panthera Leo Melanochaita
Originates from southern Africa, rangingfrom southern Namibia to southeastern Mozambique.
Did you know:
…Southeast African Lion are a subspecies of the African Lion.
…White Lions are a color mutation of Transvaal Lions. This is called leucism, and in Lions it only occurs in this particular subspecies.

They stay amazingly clean though - they're nothing like Polar Bear cubs
They're seated kind of in a corner of their enclosure, so while we're standing on one side, people are walking past where they're looking at. Probably some small kid that seems like a doable prey
