…The Large Flying Fox is known by many different names, like the Greater Flying Fox, Malayan Flying Fox, Malaysian Flying Fox, Large Fruit Bat, Red-Necked Fruit Bat, Kalang and Kalong.
…Despite what their scientific name suggest, they feed exclusively on fruits, nectar and flowers like any other member of the genus Pteropus.
…It is known as a Megabat and noted for being one of the largest Bats in the world.
…Like all Old World Fruit Bats, the Large Flying Fox is unable to echolocate, but compensated with well-developed eyesight.
…The Large Flying Fox faces threats such as habitat loss and deforestation, but they are also hunted for food (bushmeat) and they are considered pests by some farmers because they sometimes feed on orchards.
