Did you know:
…In Dutch, the name of the Bateleur translates back to “illusionist” or “magician”.
…Its name actually derives from the French, and means “street performer”, mainly the old tight-rope walkers, implying the bird’s characteristic habit of rocking its wings from side to side when gliding, as if catching its balance.
