Description
When: October 19, 2021
Where: Pairi Daiza Brugelettes, Belgium
With a lot of different Lemur species sharing the same habitat, you really just hope to see them all... Crowned Lemurs seem less inclined in almost every zoo to not be close to the other species. So we really had to look for the two males. We found them though, they had their own bowl of food too
Species: Crowned Lemur (Kroonmaki)
Latin name: Eulemur Coronatus
Originates from Madagascar.
Current status: Endangered
Did you know:
…Crowned Lemurs are sexually dimorphic; females have a gray body with an orange crown, while males are a dark reddish brown, crowned with black and orange.
…They have long, non-prehensile tails which they use to balance jumping from branch to branch, but also for communication in their close knit, female-led social groups.
