They're wild animals, it's actually illegal to keep a wild bird as a pet.

I have a pet three toed box turtle and she's happy but I take her out here and there and I want to be able to learn more about animals so I can breed her and bring back box turtles to Arkansas. I'm studing it in college and looking for a team in the biology department who can help me make sue she's ok and read first. But I never seen a baby turtle and she had her third egg and I wish I could help her more.

They're wild animals you're not supposed to touch them too much or they can get sick and possibly die.

Like I've said wild animals often seem sick when they're just weak or tired.

no i helped her try to take care of it, but it was in the middle of the road, and a car was about to run it over, and it could barley walk, it also had some sort of goop, surrounding its eye, it very young, and we had no clue where the mother was or the nest, so what were we supposed to do!? let it get run over? and not to mention we did feed it and take care of it correctly, after all before we tryed to help that one we helped a baby robin from getting eaten by a dog, and after a while, it did live and it flew away when it learned how.

From your reply you are implying that nature doesn't have it's own way of dealing with things.

"If you find a fully feathered on the ground - that is a fledgling on their first flight. They just need to be picked up off the ground and put in a bush or on a tree branch. Do not worry about the "scent of man" on the baby - it is an old wives' tale. The parents will not reject the baby from a human handling the bird. Be sure to leave the area and don't look out a window to watch - the parents will see you and will be afraid, causing them to stay away from the baby. Fledglings are terrible flyers and landings are also bad. After a couple of days of practise, the fledglings will be able to get off the ground. The parents follow them during this ground period and feed them. After the ground period, the fledglings then fly and follow the parents for at least a month to receive food." It's good you let it go because it's illegal to keep a wild bird.

i know this, it didn't look like it could fly, it couldn't even walk one step, so we were going to take it to the vet, but it died the night right before then... and not to mention, i know that nature DOES have a way with dealing with things its self, BUT the baby bird had some sort of goop on its eye, with puss oozing out, it was in the middle of the road, and couldn't walk, and expect me to leave it? really?

no the one im talking about died, and im not putting words in your mouth, all im saying is that the bird got sick and died because of the goop surrounding its eye. Not because we helped it.

Ah, okay.

You should be careful btw, birds with stuff like that can spread sicknesses to people and some pets sometimes.

We have a bunch of fledging robins in our backyard. One's already fledged, his siblings are still too nervous.XD They're funny to watch.
