Description This is the little sparrow I rescued about three days ago... she's doing great so far (I'm assuming it's a she, by the tail feathers) and she sings ALL DAY LONG!!! But, she sleeps during the night, and is quite friendly.

She fell from a nest from who knows where, and I'm hoping that she will be strong enough to be returned into the wild in the next week or two. She's eating well, and quite the fighter, trying very hard to learn to fly, and such.

I've been feeding her wild baby bird formula, and she's gotten the hang of letting me know when it's feeding time, that's for sure!

She has a nice nest she sleeps in at night, but during the day, she prefers to either sit on my bookshelf right above me while I'm working, or she sits on my finger, or on my shoulder... no matter where she sits, she sings all day long. My only real worry is that she will start to imprint, and not want to go back to the wild once she's old enough...

Thanks... when she was around, she would sit on my finger all day, every day, singing her little heart out the entire time (except feeding time, and she make it clear when that was) I miss her, even if the flatmates don't!

Unfortunately, she passed on after a week. It was the saddest thing.

aaw..I found a little jackdaw when I was young, but he/she died unfortunatly
I hope yours will survive and will be able to go to the wild soon..perhaps you could try out if she's able to find food on her own, before you let her go..it would be sad if she'd still die after all your effort..

Yeah, that's in the game plan... right now, she's taking to eating her food off of a feeding stick (that simulates some of the foods available for Sparrows in the wild here) plus I will be watching her once she's released as well.

Yeah... she makes me miss my cockatiels I used to have years ago...

I also used to raise Ravens to be released in the wild, but there were a few times that I had some imprint on me, and they would muck about for about a year or two until they would finally mate, and leave home so to speak...

It is nice to have a sweet little singer in my office... and though it'll be sad when she flies away, it will be the best for her.

I raised two cockatiels and two lovebirds. But recently my oldest cockatiel passed away... Your little sparrow reminds me of my little baby cockatiel when we first got him.

I never really had the opportunity to raise any wild birds, I adore birds and I wish I could raise birds, but I have a dog that I'm raising. My youngest cockatiel is too emotionally attached to my father.

Its hard to raise animals.. They grow so fond of us and vice-versa and then we become attached to them they become like our children so it becomes so painful to say good bye but its the rule of life.

Yeah... I have pet weasels... well.... one now... my other two died of old age, and it was very hard, because they are like my babies...

My last one gets spoiled a LOT, even though she is very old... she doesn't know she's old, and still acts like a baby (and robbing my flatmates blind at every chance)

Ah, I do adore animals... Its been so hard to cope with the death of my cockatiel... But we never did find out what happened to him.

My dog gets spoiled, he's about 7 months old, but... he acts like he's a human baby. Every woman in the neighborhood just stops and stares whenever my pup walks out so elegantly, they ask me what breed he is and of course not many people here in the US let alone here in Florida own a Papillon.

Yeah... I know where you're coming from on that.

Tragic news... the little bird passed on while I was asleep. I had very high hopes for her, because yesterday she was strong, and it kinda blindsided me. They say that once you pass that 24 hour mark, it's usually pretty clear, and they will make it. She lasted 4 days, and as I said, seemed quite healthy. I do plan to keep the pics up though.

Oh..... That's so sad.... she passed away... I wonder why?
She seemed so strong.. but for her to pass away so quickly..
How odd... It must be so painful for you. I can't believe it..

Birds, and especially sparrows, are very fragile... it's hard to tell what may have been cause of death. It's possible that she was sick to begin with, and that's why she was out of the nest at such a young age.

My flatmates were annoyed by the singing all day, but now they all kinda miss it.
