as far as I remeber, in old times in Russia rice was called "saracen millet"

Old missconceptions or believes held in languages - maybe Jacques Cartier when in landed in modern Québec still though it was India...

when I was a child I had a French book on vikings with cool illustrations, and there was a chapter about vikings discovering American continent, and stories about their settlements and first contacts with Native Americans really fascinated me

that's so great, the norsemen and aborigens, two civilisations, it could be a great plot for a book or film. 

and those stories of aztecs about blue-eyed and blond gods who came from across the sea, maybe they have some norse origins too
