Please excuse the rushed shading. I'm currently trying to get my future in order. Never mind the fact I procrastinated on working on the sketch until last night, or the coloring was done in the last half an hour, or the man behind the curtain D:
The move is Thrash. I was going to do Endure, but the planned image was more of a sports thing instead of a martial arts thing. Special thanks to the trainer who donated their Hitmonchan for this demonstration; we think he's going to be okay.

Thanks! I'm glad it came out looking that way - I was a little concerned that it wouldn't be as strong as I hoped C:
I plan on taking some time to actually target and figure out some specific shading methods, so when a deadline comes up I know what I can and can't use instead of floundering about like I tend to do.

It still turned out looking really cool. When you first pull the image up the first thought is: OMG I'M GOING TO GET PUNCHED IN THE FACE!!! Then reality sets in. The black eye is a nice touch to the character too.

But yes, saying something about the art now! Although the perspectives are all kinda wonky (granted there's not much reference material for having your face beaten in by an angry alligator) this is a really strong emotive piece - I'm sitting here thinking 'shiiiiiiiiiiit!' D: The human hand could've been better, though.
(And if I'm not mistaken Athens is handling this pokemon from another trainer? I'm guessing he's either offstage screaming at him to stop or he's off-camera trying to get hastily onstage to get him to stop. (I think I just confused myself.))

The anatomy in general here is effed all to heck XD the frill I just gave up on, and the human hand... well, I didn't realize the anatomy errors until I inked it. I'm a bit out of practice drawing my own hands, apparently D:

*patpat* No worries - hands are one of the more difficult things to draw. For the longest time I could not draw fingers separated.
Ah. *nodnod* I kinda actually thought this was taking place on the Contest stage, but staged boxring fighting doesn't necessarily mean someone's actually getting beaten up - a really good fighter knows how to throw punches just convincingly enough to make them look like they're full-powered but enough control to not actually do serious damage when it connects.

Oh crap, I've actually experienced the entire 'omg, everything's red! D: ' thing before. *was trying out snowboarding and faceplanted downhill... without a helmet* Obviously after that I decided waiting two hours in line for a helmet was a good idea (yeah, I was wtfing over why they didn't give you a helmet with the board, too).

I... did not know that part. ._. I was frightened I'd done something horrible to myself and paced around the bathroom telling myself if it didn't pass in a good amount of time I'd go to a teacher and see about getting to the hospital (school field trip to a ski resort), but I didn't realize it was that bad. (Granted it makes sense now.)
