Thanks! It's a bit hefty at the hilt. But the weight is still balanced.

I can't decide which is drawing me more to this picture. The beautiful sword or it's enticingly lethal wielder? Either way, love it.

The sword is a late suto 1600's German Munich Rapier. Fencing is a bit of a speciality with me. I am also the one in this picture, so thank you for the comment XD
This is the power of a self timer.

You look like a character from Archlord. Or something from a live action version of Archlord. Either way, it's fricken awesome.

Ciao sir. I've never played Archlord. Usually stick to RPGs like Monster Hunter, The Elderscrolls and the Witcher. Oh and Demon's Souls, Can't forget that one. But thank you nevertheless.

It's not much different than that of those of which you have already played, just know that if you ever get a chance to play Archlord, it is worth a go. (It's a free downloadable game by the way).

The costume and figure are dynimite, but I'd perfer the tip of the sword in full view. It is attached to the edge of the frame, freezing even to the image. Imagine the sword free to say, love, honor, dignity, pride, integrity, homage, respect, protectant, peace or Triumph!

I hope you will forgive a minor criticism, and all else is well done(save the hair cut)...This blade and grip configuration began service in about 1575 and was often accompanied by a main gauche or short parrying blade for the left hand (should an opponent get in too close which would render the long sword blade of no use).At that point one would either "pommel" the opponent or use the defensive short blade in the left hand. Many duels were fought with this two sword configuration and at the time it was considered quite ergo-dynamic. 3000 deaths in Spain alone...
It would be somewhat more convincing to those that wield such a blade if the model's index finger wrapped around the ricasso. Part of the reason for such an ornate blade guard is to protect the index finger and or the thumb when they are extended beyond the grip for several different positions for thrust and parry.

You serve a very valid point. Fencing is a bit of a speciality of mine. This is a late 1590s, or Circa 1600s, German Munich Rapier of Tempered 1095 high carbon steel. Its a perfect example of German Military Cut-and-Thrust Swept Hilt and was carried by the Munich Town Guard. The slightly shorter blade and stout hilt were perfect for breaking up a street fight or tavern brawl, as the town guard was often employed to do. Unfortunately I don't own the perry blade that goes with this.
Medieval and renaissance history are my lifes study. As well as the Civil war 1861 to 1865. My father used to be a Confederate soldier in the North Carolina reenactments against the Union.
It's a shame there arn't many fairs or reenactments now days.
I greatfully appreciate the comment.

This is a Self portrait. I used the camera timer. Experience is a dim lamp, which only lights the one who bears it. People often say the eyes are a window into the soul. My lights have all but dimmed and my shades are shut. What you see is whatever your dreams wan't to see. Alone in the woods. I could attack at any moment. Would you dare get closer?

Oh, German rapier. My lack of knowledge on fencing blades is showing, I think!
It's really a lovely sword. I've wanted to take up a school of classical swordsmanship for some time now, but I can't for the life of me find a teacher of anything but sport fencing, and I cannot but feel sport fencing is sort of a waste.
As it is, my melee weapon specialty is torn somewhere between striking weapons like the cane and baton, hand-to-hand combat and (my favorite) the infantry long spear. I'm still looking to broaden my horizons, since I'm nowhere near the level of general proficiency I'd like to be in before I specialize. Sadly, I feel like many of the weapon styles I enjoy the most aren't terribly practical styles for the modern day. I suspect I'd be considered somewhat strange if I were to try and carry a seven foot spear with me!
