his name is pronounced "Ball-Ter-Gree". the S in his name is silent like in "ambergris"

He's one of those people who's really shitty to other people but then really sensitive when people are shitty to him. But in a calm Average Joe kind of way with a sort of New Jersey accent. Like someone who struggles to make conversation at the office water cooler.
Ex: Let's say Baltergris for no reason decided to rip somebody's arm off. He holds the arm at arms length and drops it like "oh. Oh my gosh ew. Things are much grosser when they're not attached to the thing it belongs to. Ever notice that? Haha... why is that? Why do you... why do you think that is? Hah... so weird..."
The person screams at him and tries to attack and he smacks them down with his sword looking upset like "Wow that's- that's really mean. Like why would you say that to someone? That- that's really hurtful, man. That's terrible. You're a terrible person. Why would you say those things? ;-;"
As for the 3 tails, 2 of them are the remnants of his siblings who also had that kind of tail- 1 each. Like semi sentient crystal snake heads.
He was the youngest of 3 and one day while eating breakfast he wondered what they tasted like and casually killed and ate them. He was mildly surprised when they became his tails.

Baltergris tries to converse with his victims sometimes. He could be tying their noose or using a crank to pull their hair until something breaks or sawing off a leg while casually ranting about something as if simply in a therapists office like "You know like I don't really get the whole 'tall, venti, grande' thing at Starbucks. Why can't they just use small medium large? It's American, right? And I get confused and think the tall means like a large you know? Hey, what's the deal with almond milk? Like how do they even make that? I- heh- I mean how do you milk an almond? That's just like... are almonds mammals or something? *weak nerdy snorting laugh* you tell me- I never went to school. Heheh. I was too dumb for school. Stupid right? But I don't hold a grudge or anything I understand. Hey- can you hold still? I'm trying to make a clean cut. Thanks. Hey, did I tell you about my novel I'm working on? I mean it's still in the works but it's like about the life of this teacup that watches the affair between the Duke and duchess if York and what it thinks about while they're not there but I don't wanna give it a name so it's anonymous you know so you find out its a teacup at the end and I dont wanna assign a gender cuz like I wanna be politically correct and stuff which reminds me of another story I wanted to do about the president eating nachos. Funny right? Cuz like... hahaha... I mean... president eating nachos?? Hah... Yeah. So how's your day?"
