but doesn't the old saying "... friends close... enemies closer" defeat the purpose of such friendly denial? If there was someone always striving for my end, or a force, then why would I then call them a friend? [sorry for the idiotic comment earlier, was in an unique mood]
Knowing that we would be facing such a task, no matter what we do while living, is it right to embrace death, or fight with every last inch?
I suppose a view could be it as a simple inevitability instead of a personification. The simplest way to look at such a thing that is, and has cause for no meaning or feeling.

I suppose, maybe it's just that sooner or later, we'll have to embrace Death. Like an old friend, however for the time being we'll have to be weary of death since it's our enemy in the long run...I dunno
