The realm of Hyrule prior to The Wind Waker's Great Flood. Done in Photoshop CS5, painted over this map: [link]I have attempted to chart this incarnation of Hyrule before, but this is the most accurate in my opinion.
Comments/critiques appreciated.
UPDATE #1: Addition of a few more terrain details in the north sector and southwest quadrant; added a compass, grid, and sector names based on landforms/isles from The Wind Waker's Great Sea chart.
UPDATE #2: I've added some manmade landmarks I overlooked, including the communities which would later give rise to Outset Island and Greatfish Island. In addition to these I also added the Gerudo's Fortress, a shipyard, some bridges, and a few more routes. If you download, you will notice the file is much larger than before — great for a print out!

Wow! I don't know about you, but I would 100% play a Zelda game with this Overworld Map! It could be the Prequel to Wind Waker, maybe... Legend of Zelda: Forgotten Kingdom

Currently working on a story with this map as a reference. It's called The Legend of Zelda Sleeping Streams. Sleeping Streams represents the streams of water that flood Hyrule leaving the kingdom to sleep eternally under the Great Sea.

Damn and to think originally we were gonna be allowed to explore Old Hyrule. Oh yeah in the gamecube version there are snowy mountains in the far background.

It could have been even greater than the game already was had we been able to. It would have made its demise by seawater even that much more jarring...
Yes, the snowy ranges. I did not include them here, under the assumption that they're further than they appear, ringing the country on nearly all sides like a basin. Considering only one island breaks the sea surface as an icy peak (Ice Ring Isle), they certainly must be out of bounds. ☺

Yeah true and if we were to follow your map the icy mountain would be behind Gerudo Desert. I also like how you had Ganon's Tower surrounded in a desert like in the actual Wind Waker. I found out about this awhile ago from a video my friend sent me.

Hmm I just had an interestng thought. The Haunted Wastelands. Is that a location you would've had the Ghost Ship at? If it appeared in flooded Hyrule I mean.

Interesting thought… It doesn't line up with the layout of TWW's Great Sea but, in theory, it ought to be a stretch of ocean that the Ghost Ship would likely inhabit yeah.

Yeah I agree. The only other thing I can think of is that the Haunted Wastelands was similar to the Sand Sea to the pointed that there was a ship the Gerudo used to have that was probably abandoned due to a possible sand storm in the Haunted Wastlelands spot. Hyrule possibly had tech that would let Gerudo have a ship that sailed the sand as well which makes sense seeing how in Skyward Sword they had tech that let them go back in time centuries ago and at one point some Gerudo were killed in the Huanted Wasteland due to a storm that never went away and so even after the flood they had a ship now known as the Ghost Ship travel around in the Great Sea.

Hey I just noticed since I wanted to compared your map to the Wind Waker one which by the way it was perfectly spot on. I noticed that East Fairy Rock and West Fairy Rock are switched on your map compared to the Wind Waker Fairy Islands. The name directions I mean.

i also want the controls to be more akin to tp's combat and weapons. botw's felt annoying and got old really quick. and lack of fresh gear.

Basically pre-windwaker after OoT. It would be hard since this is supposed to be an era without a hero which causes the Great Flood. since no one could stop Ganon once he returned. Although I heard originally in wind waker we would have orignally gone thorugh 8 dungeons in Old Hyrule to get the 8 pieces of the triforce. Aounuma just needed one more year of developing the game.

Yup I even had another idea. A pre WW game could have another villain that attacks in the mean time like Vaati or someone else. Since the Adult Timeline seems to be the only timeline with different final bosses (Well besides the oracle series in the downfall timeline and presplit timeline), maybe before Ganon gets out someone else attacks. If it's vaati awesome the return of the Four Sword or maybe a different weapon or the Master Sword. Four Sword maybe not since it would have to be a 2D game or a 2.5D game like Triforce Heroes, but Zelda events as serious as The Imprisoning War and the Flood should be in 3D. Only problem is that Wind Waker wouldn't mention those events, but damn do I want to see the Zelda seen in Wind Waker's Hyrule Castle the picture of her and the guys that look like Tetra's crew mates in a game. I know they look the same her and Tetra but personanlity wise and her roll in the situation will most likely be different.
Edit: Haunted Wasteland could be the origins of the Ghost Ship maybe? Seeing how there was a ship in SS in the deserted since it was originally a sea maybe they could find a way to have it a ship be there. The hero of the Flood a hero not recongnized by the king.

Oh yeah I know that but I'm saying if he were to return in a Wind Waker prequel the four swords returning would be a cool idea since Toon Link is usually the Four Sword protagonist. Plus since the original Four Swords happens before OoT and the Hylian Civil War (The event that takes place while baby OoT Link is being taken to the Great Deku Tree by his mother), another Four Swords event can occur.

Yeah same. I'm currently making a story about the Hero of the Flood using this map. Sad part about this story is that he wasn't recognized as a hero hence why it's called "An Era Without a Hero", but that's of course to say if someone even attempted it.

I dont think someone did. If the game is to be believed ot wws in the hero of times lifetimr, hence why no hero could be brought up

Who knows. Cause honestly Demise put a curse on Zelda and Link. Whenever evil comes a hero will rise to occassion. The same goes with Zelda. Well that's a little
Edit: Also I can't tell if the black marks on the map are shadows or pitfalls. what do you think they are?
Edit again: Never mind I looked through the game and some Wind Waker Hyrule Field videos and I forgot there's pitfalls in some areas.

True but that also depends on how long after Wind Waker OoT is. I know it's over 100 because Aonuma said TP is several hundred years after OoT and MM and that WW happens around the same time TP does in their own respective timeline splits. Anyway I still believe it's possible because in the Adult Timeline Wind Waker Link had to prove himself to be a hero as he was just a boy named Link who lived on a island and wanted to save his sister after she got kidnapped. So it is possible someone or another Link attempted to do something before the flood but failed. Since it seems that even a random kid can end up trying to save the world unintentionally. Kinda feel like the gods didn't intend for WW Link to get involved since if it weren't for his sister getting captured the events of Wind Waker most likely wouldn't have happened unless Link for some reason wanted to save Tetra if the bird actually got her. As for BotW combat... I love it a lot. It has aspects from earlier Zelda games and part of me even sees some Zelda II aspects.

As for combat i personally liked TP's combat the best. And if they mixed tp's combat with botw's then it wouldnhave been far better. TP's combat imo was great. I do like the shield surfing. And i think double tapping the jump button would have given u a roll. Imo botw needed alot.more. and that comes from someone who is an open world rpg connessiour. Still need to play a few of the more to get a more full pallette. But botw should have been more rpg than it was and i think that would have made it better and suit the game overall.
