Description

As the cloud dissolved, a large engine appeared. It was a streamliner, but not one she had ever seen before and oh so very big. The engine was female painted in a vibrant orange and red paint scheme which nearly rivaled the sun in brightness with her faced all dolled up to match. The Danish tank engine watched in horror, unable to move as the strangely colorful engine approached her. It was then that she was able to read some of the words that were inscribed onto the engine: the tender read “Southern Pacific” in bold, white print while the orange skirting said “Edith.”
The one that could only be assumed as Edith smiled once she spotted the tank and rolled towards her. “My, my someone’s up early! I thought you were down for routine maintenance, Elsa?”
The Danish engine knitted her brow lightly and said softly, “But… but I’m not - -”
“Oh no matter dear, it’s good to have you back either way. Hurry along now, the English Daylight leaves soon and you know how I feel about tardiness!”
“But I’m not Elsa! My name ees…” The tank engine could only watch helplessly as the bigger engine rolled away. “…Tinkerbell.” She didn’t know who this Elsa was, but it certainly wasn’t her.
Tinkerbell sighed defeatedly; well that was awkward and strange. What type of engine was Edith anyway? Were there more of them inside the sheds? Well, she couldn’t go in and find out now that she was given a task. Granted it wasn’t by the yard master or the controller, but she was instructed to provide assistance when it was needed. But she didn’t know where the coaches were, though she did know she had some time before Edith would have to depart… hopefully. She also knew that passenger trains often matched the engine that pulled it, at least that’s how it worked usually and especially with streamlined trains. So with that in mind, the Danish F puffed around the yards in search of some red or orange coaches.
She quickly found two rakes of Gresley teaks painted in orange and red in a nearby siding. Tinkerbell sniffed as she observed them, they were a little dusty and quite old. That big engine looked modern. Perhaps the ICR couldn’t afford MKs or something? She didn’t have time to think it over and quickly gathered them up to bring towards the station. The old teaks protested at suddenly being woken up from their slumber.
“Elsa!” The one directly facing her exclaimed, “What do you think you’re doing?!”
There was that name again, was there another Danish F around here? Tinkerbell pouted, “My name ess Tinkerbell!” She pushed the teaks into the waiting Edith once she reached the station and sitting patiently.
England’s Daylight jumped slightly as she was shoved a few inches. The people on the platform were also surprised and took a few extra steps away from the yellow line. Their sudden hesitation did not go unnoticed by Edith and she frowned, “I do not know what’s gotten into you this morning, Elsa but you know better than to shove the rolling stock, and more importantly me, like that!” An irritated whistle could be heard from behind but she paid it no mind and instead looked on as her passengers boarded. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she waited, the train felt lighter somehow and she didn’t know why. Was she missing a coach?
A few pats from her crew managed to get the tank engine to calm down. She let out a heavy sigh and watched Edith depart Barrow, the teaks still yelling at her but she tuned them out. This wasn’t turning about to be a great day and she was already hoping her stay on the ICR would be a short one so she could get back to the Nene Valley. At least there they knew her name....

Whewboy... This one's been on the backburner for a while...!

She wrote it back in July... Goes to show you how long this has been ongoing for. But now I'm back for Christmas, well rested I've finally had a chance to properly have at this bit of work. Needless to say it looks rather nice... Yeah, this is a none-cannon story or AU where Tinkerbell is placed on hire to the fictional Fowler line which has become somewhat of a safe haven for engines with an expanded loaded gauge, while their shunter undergoes some winter maintenance and we find out a little bit more into Tink's character, for once having a story that's from start to finish... Something that I've never been able to do mind you...! But Dani manages to capture Tink's character in a way I haven't been able to quite just yet...

Tinkerbell in dark blue and yellow lining... It's so satisfying to the eyes I swear ]B

Also enjoy some easter eggs in here to boot~ (Those with keen eyes are going to be quite cross with me )
